The John Poole House
Located behind Old Town Hall in Poolesville, the original part of the building was John Poole's log store built in 1793. The frame portion added in 1866 houses an art studio and the Historic Medley District's office. The first Poolesville Post Office was established in this store on December 5, 1810 |
Sugarloaf Mountain
A national landmark with more than 3,000 acres of wooded parklands, is located eight miles north of Poolesville. It offers a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside as well as hiking and picnicking |

White's Ferry
Located six miles west of Poolesville, has the only ferry still operating on the Potomac River. The "General Jubal A. Early" carries cars and passengers between Maryland and Virginia. |

Portions of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal System are located to the south and west of Poolesville. This canal, which parallels the Potomac River, offers hiking, biking, and camping. In addition, there are several historic points of interest and museums located on the canal. |
