Water/Wastewater Operator

Grade 5
Salary Range: $30,000 – 35,000 base salary plus benefits.

The Town of Poolesville is seeking a highly motivated and very reliable Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator to be a part of our team. The Treatment Operator must possess the desire and ability to be self-motivated and operate all aspects of the treatment of water and wastewater.

Job Description: This is a full time 40+ hours a week position, working in the Town of Poolesville. Operators will repair and maintain water and wastewater treatment facilities, perform routine laboratory tests, operate treatment facilities to process water and wastewater, observe variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings to control process. Start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes. Maintain records of meter and gauge readings. Takes samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses. Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Clean driving record
  • Pass a medical examination
  • Availability to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, as well as responding to twenty-four hour emergency calls.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to use Microsoft word and excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in excavating and repair of water and sewer mains
  • Knowledge of water and sewer operations
